How to Become a Member:
Tailored for Individuals: Select your best-fit membership level to receive steep discounts on waivers for either 3 APFs usable anytime over 3 years, or 5 APFs usable over 5 years. (Users will be asked to login to, or create , a JMIR user account before selecting a membership.) Individual members can utilize your Membership tokens on any article of your choosing.
Designed for Organizations: Our popular membership type for departments, labs, and libraries! Institutional membership levels can be selected for 3 APF waivers usable anytime over 3 years, up to 10 APF waivers usable over 5 years, to fit the needs of most small to large organizations. (Institutional primary contacts will be asked to login to, or create , their JMIR user account before selecting a membership.) Institutional members can apply their Membership Tokens to any accepted manuscript on which their faculty, students, or staff are listed as an author.
Upon selecting your membership level and completing a brief application, your membership account will be immediately set up and accessible when paid for by credit card. If payment is made via cheque or wire transfer, your account will be set up and accessible once payment is received.

Information about Institutional Memberships
Academic institutions (such as departments, labs, or libraries), research funders, societies/associations, companies, or other groups can apply for institutional membership with JMIR Publications. This is part of our effort to build a global network of centers of excellence in digital health and internet research.

How to Use Your Membership
You can use your JMIR Publications membership in 3 easy steps!
Using Individual Memberships:
- Sign up for an Individual membership at any time.
- Follow these instructions to complete your membership purchase through your JMIR Author Account .
- Upon manuscript acceptance, proceed to check out as if you are going to pay the Article Processing Fee. At the check out apply your Membership Promo Code which will reduce your Article Processing Fee to $0.
Using Institutional Memberships:
- Institutional Memberships can be purchased at any time.
- Follow these instructions to complete your membership purchase through your JMIR Author Account .
- Institutions should determine a primary point of contact for administering Membership tokens.
- Upon manuscript acceptance, submit the invoice to the primary institutional contact so they can apply the Membership Promo Code at checkout. This will reduce the Article Processing Fee to $0.
General Information
- Optional author fees, such as fast-track fee or knowledge dissemination add-on fees, cannot be covered by memberships
APFs are payable upon acceptance of an article. APFs can only be waived if the Membership Token is currently active. APFs cannot be retrospectively waived for papers already published.
Non–credit card payments (for all memberships):
If you are unable to pay by credit card , please issue a wire transfer or a cheque made payable to “JMIR Publications Inc.” and mail to the address on the invoice.
Please include “Invoice Number” in wire transfer/cheque note. A 7% handling fee applies for all memberships that are not paid through credit card.
Cancellation policy (for all memberships):
Membership fees are prepaid special offers for benefits covering multiple year terms, and are nonrefundable for either prorated or full amounts.
