AI Principles and Data Protection

JMIR Publications employs artificial intelligence (AI) tools to enhance routine editorial processing and to bolster research integrity. All applications are in use only with human oversight and decisions are made exclusively by people. The deployment of any AI system — whether internal or from third-party providers — is strictly governed by our Privacy Policy and our commitment to the confidentiality of the peer-review process. Submitted manuscripts, peer-review reports, and personal data are never used to train public AI models. All third-party providers are bound by contractual agreements that prohibit the use of any personal information or manuscript data for any purpose beyond the specified editorial task, requiring all data to remain confidential and secure.

For our editorial policy and guidance on AI use for authors, please see JMIR Publications Editorial Policy on the use of generative AI during manuscript preparation .
